Alaska Industrial Academy, formerly Arctic Safety Training and Consulting, was originally established by Dave Burnett in 2009. Mike Gallagher joined the company in 2010 and purchased Dave's company in 2015. Mike renamed the company The Alaska Petroleum Academy. The business has remained at the Kenai Peninsula Economic Development District's campus since its founding in 2009. Currently, we are reorganizing and have rebranded the company. We are now named the Alaska Industrial Academy.
The Alaska Industrial Academy (AIA) continues to offer the Cook Inlet Training Standards (CITS) as well as HAZWOPER, technical, industrial, construction, marine, safety and health and many other targeted courses.
Targeted courses, included but not limited, to:
- Confined Space Entry and Rescue
- H2S
- Scaffolding Awareness
Our trainings provide the necessary certifications for students to meet all local, Alaskan and Federal requirements. Located on the Kenai Peninsula, AIA has developed training to provide students an understanding of safety, health, and environmental topics.
Our courses cover the requirements based on the standards of OSHA, EPA, AKDEC, CDC, DOT and other Federal and State safety and environmental regulatory agencies.
In addition, AIA has developed training information unique to The Cook Inlet by incorporating and using knowledge and expertise gained through the experience of local workers', oil and gas, manufacturing, maritime, and the construction industries. We have customized trainings of the standards from these local sources with concepts and practical information to better prepare the worker for conditions in The Cook Inlet industries.
