Course Overview

The Industrial Occupational Safety & Health course introduces workers to key safety topics found in plants, shops, terminals, and other general industry environments. Using OSHA general industry standards as a framework, this course focuses on recognizing routine hazards and applying practical controls to prevent injuries and incidents.

Participants review the purpose of OSHA, basic worker rights and responsibilities, and how to select and use personal protective equipment (PPE). The course covers site safety expectations, slips, trips, and falls, ergonomics, fire watch and extinguisher use, basic electrical safety, and hazard communication requirements for chemicals and other substances. HAZWOPER zones are introduced to help workers understand how contaminated areas are organized and controlled.

By the end of the course, workers have a solid baseline understanding of industrial safety fundamentals and are better prepared to work safely, communicate hazards, and support their employer's safety program.
